Kenzie Huckabay, daughter of Garth and Audra Huckabay of McHenry, addressed the members of the McHenry Rotary Club at their regular noon meeting, Thursday, November 1st, , at the McHenry Country Club.   Kenzie was sponsored by this club for a year’s exchange in Germany from August 2011 through June 2012.  She is one of thousands of Rotary Exchange students who criss-cross the continent learning about other cultures and customs.

Kenzie spent her year in Verden (Aller) Germany near the city of Bremen in the northwestern portion of that country.  She showed the club many photos of her experiences with a guided tour by power-point.  In addition to living with German families and attending a local school, her time included brief travels to Austria, England, Italy, and the Netherlands.  She especially benefitted from meeting many other Rotary Exchange students from all many different countries.  She summed up her remarks by saying, “I’m a lot more worldly now, I really like that.  I’ve gained a great sense of independence and a realization that life is too short not to “seize the day!”
