ROTARIAN TAKES ICE BUCKET FOR ALS AT MEETING

                Mayor Sue Low dared Phil Sweeney, both members of the McHenry Rotary Club, to take the ALS ice water challenge.  Phil accepted the challenge and the club elected Jim Vyduna and Don Tonyan to lift and pour the bucket of ice and water over his head.  Through a process of auction and club action, the group raised nearly $200 to help fight ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ‘Lou Gehrig’s Disease'         

                Phil, in his pre-dousing speech, named his siblings, brothers Brendan and Frank, sister, Maureen, to join the thousands who have taken the ice bath for ALS.   The whole procedure ended the weekly noon meeting of the McHenry Rotary Club on the grounds of the McHenry Country Club, facing the members looking through the windows.
