16 hearty members, trudged thru 8” of newly fallen snow to meet at the PLAV Club on Park Street. President Webb rang in the New Year and everyone gleefully sported their sharp new name badges.  Opening duties went to Bob Blake, leading us in the Pledge as we looked to the flags on the wall, yours truly lead the 4-way test, Vyduna hesitated for just a split second, resulting in McLemore bursting immediately into an off key Song, and Lori Lowe asked our Lord for guidance thru-out the upcoming year in all of our Club’s efforts.   A wonderful meal of meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and salad, satisfied even the biggest of appetites.  Warm pie completed the feast and as we enjoyed each other’s fellowship, one couldn’t help but feel right back  at home as a McHenry Rotarian at the PLAV.

Mystery Hand shaker-  Jim Vyduna who had already greeted most of the members with Hand Shake and heart felt Happy New Year.

Happy Dollars   Lori noted that Bill should be very happy and highly recommended that he put in a buck for their anniversary, Kathy for grandchild #6 being on the way, Mike Ossler for being in a warm IL., Webb for Mike joining our Club, Bartmann for time up North, yours truly seconded that, Donna for a trip planned to a warmer Fl., and Bob Blake for a great Holiday season.

Fun & Frolics     It only took Lori 10 seconds to collect a buck from all. Wow a new F&F time record was set today !! No one knew what day of Christmas it was.  Turns out it’s the 9th day according to the Catholic Calendar and as the song goes, my true love gave to me,  9 ladies dancing .  Editor’s note:  I can’t imagine my true love ever getting me 9 ladies dancing.

Program    Discussions took place on how the Club should decide who receive our donations along with the amount of the donations.  It was determined that year’s ago a Project Committee looked for and sorted thru requests.  Recommendations will then be brought to the Club and then the Foundation.    It was determined that a Project Committee be formed and its members should differ from current Club Officers or Foundation Board members.  President Webb asked for Volunteers, resulting in the newly formed committee of Kathy Pelz, Dennis Buch, Lori Lowe and Don Tonyan.

50/50   Bill had the ticket and Lori helped him, drawing the second marble.   Our President noted that even though they were both winners, the pot will continue to grow?

Happy New Year,   stay warm and see you next week.  D.T.
