At our regular Rotary Club of McHenry meeting, Lyle Staab, District 6440 Governor Nominee Designate and member of the Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods, talked about Rotary Youth Programs.  Each year, Rotary connects thousands of young people to a global network of friendshipservice, and action. As members of Rotaract or Interact clubs, they learn about "Service Above Self" and make a difference in communities at home and abroad. At RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) weekends, they learn skills that will help them succeed as community leaders and in life.  And students on a Rotary Youth Exchange, whether a Long-Term year-long program or a Short-Term experience lasting four to eight weeks, learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens.  Each year, 500,000 young people participate in Rotary Youth Service programs worldwide.

In Rotary District 6440, there are 2,146 Rotarians (of the more than 1.2 Million Rotarians worldwide from more than 33,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas) and more than 2,800 youth who participated in our Rotaract, Interact, RYLA, and Rotary Youth Exchange (plus at least a thousand more in other activities).  Lyle’s presentation can be accessed by clicking here.
